Ridley swimmer's goals are all about the team

RIDLEY TWP. - Shane Bonner could have followed in his twin brothers' footsteps at Ridley High and set his sights on a state title in diving.

In 2004, 10-year-old Shane watched in awe as Josh and Justin earned first and third place, respectively, at the PIAA Championships.

"That is something that inspired me greatly," he said. "To watch those banners be put up and with their names on it was amazing. They taught me how to love to compete and they taught me everything about having the competitive edge and the will to win."

A senior at Ridley, Bonner has dreams of competing at Bucknell University in mid-March, winning a state medal, just as his brothers had done seven years ago.

While Bonner never gave too much thought about diving, he was influenced greatly by what Josh and Justin accomplished. Read More...
